On sunday the 18th 2009, we did our first training walk. It was about 11.3 miles long. We walked to dunkery beacon, which was about 3 miles away from where we started off. We began our walk by heading up into a half mile wood area, which was mostly uphill. Mr Blaxland met us for the first time, with the minibus on hand for those who couldnt make it up the steep hill. We then went onto a winding uphill road, which was almost vertical, and went on for about 1 mile. We then walked about a quater mile across flat moorland, and arrived at dunkery beacon. We stopped there for around 5 minutes, then continued our walk. Again, mr Blaxland was on hand for the tired and the injured. After about 2 more miles, we came to hill, where we stopped for lunch. Most of us didn't want to stop for lunch, but we all appreciated the 15 minute stop (even though some of us didn't show it!) We then carried on, past 2 huge Bulls (which scared some half to death) and made our ascent down a steep hill. Mr Blaxland met us at the bottom of the hill for the final time before getting back to base. We went through a mainly flat woodland which took about 1 hour to get through before arriving back at the coach. Our group was the second back, followed by the others about 5 minutes later.
